And don’t fight
If they’re not all alike.
Four thirds pie are

The noise of the world
Almost deafens my ears
The hateful outcries
The wailing, the tears
The dashing of hope
As it falls to the ground
They say there is change
But then I look around . . .

His is a world of noise
the cacophony
the downtown scene
walking from the train to
the overgrown obelisk with

Two layers: pink then minty green.

She wears the lace white skirt
In church she fiddles fidgets
Whistles words where children
Should be seen not heard
And chocolate on her face . . .

World War Four.
Day two.
No panic in the martini bar,
just jazz and booze
stainless steel, mirrors, and black velvet.
Murder to death all the sadness, . . .

still awaiting payment for

end of weekend shock and
the 'hump' of Wednesday's peak. . . .

I will give you a Single Word prompt and you will write a poem in any form based on that single word, whether it is a noun, adjective, or verb - represents a thing, a thought, an action or something more abstract All entries are due by Saturday Evening at 9E/8CT. Winners will be announced by the following Monday. Please tag your entries Poetry Please Single Word Challenge, or just Single Word Challenge in either the title or tags. (We may want to add more challenges later on) Anything other than freeverse is to be labeled. Lines are limited to 36. The word itself does not have to be used so long as the idea is clearly represented. I f you write in a structured form, you must follow the rules of that structure. Providing a link to the accepted rules/conventions would be appreciated. A first, second and third place place poem will be chosen with overall points being taken off for 1) lack of adherence to the prompt 2) lack of adherence to poetry form chosen and 3) going over line limits. The top three will be featured for the week.
